‘What Comes To Matter’ was an installation and research project that culminated in two parts.
The first part was a series of audio recordings of local people sharing their personal journeys and experiences of growing up, coming out and living in Plymouth.
The second part was a series of soft sculpture pieces inspired by items Brooks had viewed in the Plymouth LGBT archive with the help of Dr Alan Butler who established it in 2014.
For the 2018 Plymouth Art Weekender Brooks’ work was installed at ‘Lion’s Den’ – an area of the city’s waterfront that has historic links with the LGBT community.
This project received Plymouth SOUP funding and was supported by The Box, Take A Part and Visual Arts Plymouth.
About the Artist
Flo Brooks is based between Brighton and the South West. He works in a range of mediums from painting to collage and is driven by social practice as a way to investigate identity and boundaries.
