Children and Young People’s Portrait Competition

Children and Young People’s Portrait Competition

To celebrate our forthcoming exhibition, 'The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure', The Box and Arts University Plymouth are thrilled to launch a 'Children and Young People’s Portrait Competition' in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery.

There are three categories:
• Primary school
• Secondary school
• 18-25 years

The theme is ‘under-representation’, and we would like you to submit a portrait that you've created which shows those who may not often be represented on the walls of a museum or gallery.

Your portrait can be of anyone you choose, yourself, a friend, family member, icon.... and can be produced in any medium. Winners will receive a great prize and have their work displayed at The Box this summer.

How do I take part?

To take part all you need to do is scan or take a high quality photograph of your portrait (min 300dpi) and send it to us via email.

Label the file with your initials, the date and category. For example, the label for Joe Bloggs who submitted an entry on 30 April in the primary school category would be JB300424P (use S for the secondary school category and YP for the 18-25 years category).

The closing date for all entries is 5pm on 12 May 2024.

We can't wait to see what you create and look forward to receiving your entries. Good luck!
