Spotlight on Lemuel Lyes

8 January 2026

Lemuel Lyes is an archival storyteller and media professional with over two decades of experience as an Archive Producer in the TV/film industry, working with broadcasters including National Geographic. We are delighted that he has been appointed the 2026 Researcher Commission and will be researching the Television South-West Archive collection.

Lemuel’s work on documentary films has taken him to archives around the world, and his personal projects have included digitising and researching the stories behind Edwardian glass negatives. He has an eye for uncovering untold stories and finding new ways into iconic ones.

Lemuel’s research at The Box will focus on identifying audiovisual materials relating to Cornish stories and identity. He is a passionate believer in the power of archives to forge moments of connection that transcend time, and is excited by this opportunity to unlock the potential for The Box to bring Cornish stories to life. He hopes that his work will lay the foundation for future collaborations between The Box and Cornish creatives and researchers.
