Engineering: Smeaton’s Tower

In this day long experience your students will visit The Box, to learn about the STEAM behind Plymouth’s remarkable engineering structures before visiting the iconic Smeaton’s Tower on Plymouth Hoe.

This immersive experience includes a morning session at The Box. Students explore the engineering feats of Plymouth (including Smeaton’s Tower, the Breakwater and the Tamar Bridge). Investigating the STEAM behind sound, light and construction design students will solve challenges before an exploration of the galleries.

In the afternoon students travel to Plymouth Hoe to visit the iconic Smeaton’s Tower, learning about its rich history and ground breaking design whilst enjoying amazing views of Plymouth Sound from the lantern room.
