About Mimi Jones
Mimi Jones is a neuroqueer activist based in Plymouth. They primarily work to support queer, disabled, and neurodivergent communities—whether through creative writing, leading two community interest companies, or conducting academic research. Mimi is a published poet, an award-winning scriptwriter, and is currently advocating for greater support for disabled queer people through a research project with Bath Spa University.
As the founder of Queer Out Loud, Mimi will be joining the Plymouth Community History Festival to discuss the history of the LGBTQIA+ community and how life has changed in Plymouth over time. This talk will explore the city’s queer past, how it has shaped the present, and what it could mean for the future.
This event is open to everyone — not just those from the queer community. Please note: the talk may include potentially triggering content related to anti-queer and anti-trans legislation, including the recent Supreme Court ruling.
Plymouth Community History Festival 2025 has been organised by WonderZoo, The Box Plymouth, Beyond Face - Theatre Company and Plymouth Walks With History. It's funded by Plymouth Octopus - POP and the Tamar Valley National Landscape Tamara Landscape Partnership.
